Hutch Pedals Auction with a Twist

hutch-pedals-rocThis vintage BMX Auction is titled “1980′s NOS Hutch Pro Pedals 9/16″ With End Crushers” but I am here to tell you, these are no ordinary vintage NOS Hutch pedals. They originated from what was said to be the last unopened case of 50 sets. Prior to being in the hands of Juan Mattos, a collector from Miami and operator of www.BMX-ADDICTS.com, they were in Georgia with Mr. Haney. Below is a YouTube video of the documented footage of the opening.

Two things in the video caught my attention;

1. First was the shipping label on the side of the box that says it is going to Cyclethch, INC Baltimore and below it has a R.O.C. C No. 7. But isn’t R.O.C. Republic of China. I would say yes, as he notes the boxes are not labeled Hutch either. Made in Taiwan – Still Originals.
2. Next was the audio at about 5:15 where Juan states he had promised Jeff Haney he would not open the box ever. Tough promise to keep no matter who you are. Thanks again Juan.

Now I am not here to bust Juan’s cajones. I am glad he is sharing. The USA NOS pedals sell for $500-$600. Let’s see where these end up, but there is less than 24 hours left for you to get in on this auction.

Juan noted that his boxes will be numbered and stickered with BMX-ADDICTS inside to verify their origination. He also notes that they will be issuing 10-15 sets. Just something to keep in mind.
